This funding is intended primarily as seed money for promising new work. It is not for supporting research where funding has either lapsed or has been previously disapproved. Final application must include a confirmation from your institution’s fiscal manager none of the funds awarded will be used to support the salary of the investigator or the facilities and administrative costs of the institution. In addition, the funds will not be used to support travel, publication costs or conference and workshop-related fees.
Grant requests are due annually by January 20th. Announcements of the rewards will be made by March 1st. Most grants are awarded for one or two years up to $100,000 per year ($200,000 maximum). Additional funding and timelines for promising research, may be extended further at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.
All grant seekers should first submit a project abstract following the requirements below. If accepted, then a more detailed final project application will be submitted for review by the Scientific Advisory Committee of LMSDR, which will give its recommendations to the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for final decisions by March 1st.

If your grant request is approved, Leiomyosarcoma Support & Direct Research Foundation requires written and oral quarterly updates on the project’s status (January, March, July and October.) In addition, the grant award recipients are highly encouraged to share their materials and data with any other researcher who has also been awarded grant money from Leiomyosarcoma Support & Direct Research Foundation.
