Grant Requests

Leiomyosarcoma Support & Direct Research Foundation (LMSDR) invites investigators to submit grant requests for research specifically studying leiomyosarcoma (LMS.) The Foundation is particularly interested in basic science and translational research aiming for a better understanding of the molecular biology of both uterine & non-uterine leiomyosarcoma, eventually leading to improvement of diagnostic tools, discovery of new prognostic markers and novel therapeutic approaches to extend survival and quality of life. We support grants that contribute to career development.

Leiomyosarcoma Research Awards - LMSDR

Leiomyosarcoma is seeking the research projects with the most impact for treatments. This funding is intended primarily for promising new work. It is not for supporting research where funding has either lapsed or has been previously disapproved. Final application must include a confirmation from your institution’s fiscal manager that none of the funds will be used to support the salary of the investigator or the facilities and administrative costs of the institution. In addition, the funds will not be used to support travel, publication costs or conference and workshop-related fees.

Grant requests are due annually by August 30th. Announcements of the rewards will be made by November 1st. Most grants are awarded for one or two years, for $50,000 to $100,000 per year ($200,000 maximum). Additional funding and timelines for promising research, may be extended further at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.

All grant seekers should first submit a project abstract following the requirements below. If accepted, then a more detailed final project application will be submitted for review by the Science Advisory Board of LMSDR, which will give its recommendations to the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for final decisions by November 1st.

If your grant request is approved, Leiomyosarcoma Support & Direct Research Foundation requires written and oral quarterly updates on the project’s status (January, March, July and October.) In addition, the grant award recipients are highly encouraged to share their materials and data with any other researcher who has also been awarded grant money from Leiomyosarcoma Support & Direct Research Foundation.
