San Francisco, CA.- Karen Gikas, a very much loved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to all who knew her, passed away on October 08, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. She was in her home surrounded by friends and family.
Karen led a very active life that began in Manchester, NH where she was born on April 27, 1954, the second of three children of James and Ann Gikas. Karen graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 1976.
Karen was a world traveler, an avid skier who once skied the Matterhorn and a master sailor. Her travels took her to Greece, Russia, Africa and many stops in Europe. She combined her great love of sports and the outdoors to successfully manage operations at G & M Sales for over 20 years. She then moved on to Marin Outdoors and most recently, to Target.
Karen’s special gift for engaging and touching the lives of others allowed her to create incredibly rich relationships. She will always be remembered for her generosity and her easy-going nature.
