December 29, 1962 – October 21, 2014
Emma was a gifted and well-accomplished Illustrator / Graphic Design Artist as well as a Painter. She attended USC in Los Angeles, CA, as well as Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA where she obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Co-Owner of Dzn Duo, she used her vision, innate talent, and love of art both in her personal and professional work.
In mid-2009, Emma learned she had a very rare form of Cancer known as Leiomyosarcoma. The doctors explained to her that her prognosis wasn’t good. As is her nature, she did not want to worry anyone with this dreadful news so only a handful of family and friends were told. She began her uphill battle with faith and determination that she was going to beat this cancer. After two years of treatments and surgery, she was finally cancer free. Emma was in remission for two and a half years before the cancer returned. Still determined she wasn’t going to let the cancer beat her, she began her battle again. She fought so valiantly this past year doing anything and everything to survive. With all the pain and suffering she had to endure, she always remained so strong and positive and maintained that bright smile. Emma passed away peacefully after her courageous battle at home with close family and friends by her side.
Those blessed to have known Emma were touched by her selflessness, depth of compassion, and spiritual and loving nature. She was beautiful both inside and out. The nights seem just a little brighter now with Emma’s spirit sparkling for everyone to see.
