“Take some time to read a good book.”

Diane E. Fishstein, age 54, passed away peacefully at her home in Sparta, NJ surrounded by her family on October 9, 2015. She had fiercely battled LMS for two and a half years.

Diane was born on April 23, 1961 in Detroit, MI, and grew up in Birmingham, MI. She received her B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan, where she was apart of the Chi Omega Eta chapter. She later returned to the University of Michigan where she received her M.B.A in Marketing.

She worked in the Marketing Department for Boise Cascade for nine years while living in Lake Zurich, IL. After moving to Alpharetta, GA, she took a break from the corporate world to raise her two children, Nicole and Oliver, where they lived for seven years prior to moving to Sparta, NJ. She later worked for H&R Block as a Senior Tax Advisor in both their Dover and Succasunna, NJ locations for over ten years.

Diane was an avid reader and lead the Sparta Friends and Neighbors Books and Movies group, an organization she was very active with. She was a very centered person who actively practiced yoga, Qi Gong, Reiki, and meditation. She loved the arts and would attend many exhibits, plays, and concerts with friends and family. She also had a love for beautiful flowers and would make trips all over to go to various gardens. Diane brought joy to everyone around her always going into every situation with a loving smile, kind ear, and gentle giggle. She was able to find positivity in every situation and was a constant source of light for every person in her life. Diane was a truly one in a million person, and her love for her family and friends, sense of humor, kindness, and endless generosity will always be remembered.

A devoted mother, sister, and wife, Diane’s loving nature will live on through her beloved family. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Fishstein, of Sparta, NJ; two children, Nicole Fishstein and Oliver Fishstein, both of Sparta, NJ; sisters, Yvonne Miller and her husband Edward of Milford, MI, and Denise Shuttie of Bloomfield, MI; brothers, Edward Shuttie and his wife Deborah of Bloomfield, MI, and Richard Shuttie of Findley, OH; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
